Gurgaon, 4th November: Skygaze India recently conducted an immersive astronomy outreach event at GD Goenka Global School, Gurugram. The event witnessed the participation of 75 students and over 20 faculty members and staff, including the School Principal, Ms. Navina Chadha, and the CEO, Mr. Dharni Pillai.
The event began with a 15-minute knowledge session where students were introduced to the fundamentals of astronomy, celestial objects, and observational techniques.
This was followed by a telescope observation session, allowing students to explore the night sky firsthand. Using professional-grade telescopes, participants observed the Moon, Saturn with its iconic rings, and bright stars. The excitement and curiosity among students made the evening memorable, with many experiencing telescope observation for the first time.
“The experience was really good. I could see Saturn with its moons very clearly.” said Arham, a student from Grade 5. “I loved the view of our Moon and Saturn.” added Amayra, from the same grade. Sharing his excitement, Rihan said, “It was my first experience of telescope observation. It was thrilling and very good.”
Their reactions reflected the impact of hands-on experiential learning in sparking scientific curiosity. The excitement was equally echoed by the school’s leadership.
Mr. Dharni Pillai, COO, shared, “It was great to organise this event for the kids. They were highly excited — in fact, they could have stayed here all night watching the Moon and stars. It was a fun and educational experience.”
Principal Ms. Navina Chadha said, “We had a wonderful experience with Skygaze India. The children and our staff reached peak excitement after seeing the views of the Moon and Saturn’s rings. It was not only a great learning experience but also a fun-filled event. We would love to organise more such sessions in the future.”
Skygaze India continues its mission to bring astronomy closer to schools, making space science accessible, interactive, and inspiring for young learners.
